Electric vehicle maintenance: Battery Care

As you save on the overall electric vehicle maintenance cost, replacing electric motors and battery packs can be costly. However, these components are designed to last many years, and manufacturers long warranty coverage to accommodate those tricky repairs. There a few ways to extend EV battery life to further avoid costly battery replacements:

• Avoid extreme temperatures as they can lessen battery performance. Manufacturers do factor these temperatures into the design to ensure the battery pack remains at proper levels.
• Avoid fully charging and fully draining the battery as it can degrade the battery pack. Again, manufacturers have limiters in place to prevent fully charging the battery and degradation.
• Try to avoid relying on fast chargers as they degrade the battery more than the slower Level 2 charging.
